CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS RURAL MANITOBA MELANOMA PATIENT WITH FUNDS TO TRAVEL TO WINNIPEG FOR SURGERY

Cancer Crossing has assisted a woman from the Parkland Region of Manitoba who was recently diagnosed with Melanoma.  She works as a health care aide but has recently fractured her ribs and is currently off work.
She manages care for her two aging parents (who are in their 90's) with the help of Home Care.  She has been supporting her parents and now she has to travel to Winnipeg for surgical management of her Melanoma and is struggling financially and very stressed out over her situation.
Cancer Crossing has provided this patient with funds to assist with her travel costs to Winnipeg so that she is able to get the treatment she needs.

CANCER CROSSING SUPPORTS YOUNG FAMILY WHOSE SOLE PROVIDER IS IN TREATMENT FOR ADVANCED TESTICULAR CANCER

Cancer Crossing has assisted a gentleman who lives with his wife and pre-school son in a tiny community about an hour north of Winnipeg.  He has been diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer and has been the sole provider for his family.  He is on chemo, is unable to work and has no sick time or disability benefits.  He is beginning the paperwork for EI Sickness and CPP-D.  His wife is not sure she can find gainful employment based on daycare needs and providing transportation for her husband to attend chemo.  They have limited family supports.  Cancer Crossing has supported this family with funds for travel costs so that this husband and father can attend his chemo treatments.
