CANCER CROSSING HAS VEGETABLES FOR YOUR FALL RECIPES!

The snow is gently falling, the air is getting crisper, our minds are turning to soups and crockpot meals. Why not get your vegetables from Cancer Crossing?

We are doing the Peak of the Market vegetable fundraiser!
The small bag of Vegetables is $15 and you get
2 lbs of Carrots, 5 lbs of Red Potatoes and 2 lbs of Yellow Onions
The large bag is $25 and you get
3 lbs of Carrots, 10 lbs of Red Potatoes and 3 lbs of Yellow Onions,
1 lb of Parsnips and 1 head of Green Cabbage.
Once we sell $1,000.00 worth of vegetables, Cancer Crossing gets 50% of the proceeds (for example, at $1,000.00 in vegetable sales, Cancer Crossing gets $500.00; at $1,200.00 in vegetable sales, Cancer Crossing gets $600.00 and so on).
The great thing is if you don't need or want vegetables, you can still make a purchase and the vegetables can be donated to someone you know or a food bank of your choice.
Deadline for orders is November 18/23
You can order here
(Click on 'Buy a Bundle'; when it comes time to Check Out, under School/Daycare choose Cancer Crossing; check the box that is hard to see under the Province 'I am placing a Community Order...')
You will get your order around November 30th.
Cancer Crossing is 100% operated by volunteers. There are no paid staff, and all operating expenses are sponsored so you can be sure that whatever proceeds Cancer Crossing gets from Peak of the Market actually go to a cancer patient in need.
Thank you for your support!

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS WITH AMBULANCE BILL

We hope everyone has had a great summer and are looking toward the upcoming change in seasons.

We continue to be 100% volunteer driven and our 'to do' list continues to grow - as do the numbers of patients we continue to support.

We are looking for a volunteer who can keep our Social Media updated - somebody with about an hour a week, who knows how a Facebook Page works (or who wants to learn), and who has writing/grammar skills. Until we find that person, these posts will continue to be sporadic but please know that our patient supports continue to be weekly.  On that topic, Cancer Crossing has assisted a gentleman living north of the Duck Mountain Provincial Park.

He has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is the primary caregiver to two adult sons with special needs and a wife who has health concerns of her own. He is on a very limited income and recently found himself in a lot of pain and reluctant to call an ambulance due to the cost. Eventually he did make the ambulance call and now cannot pay the bill.

Cancer Crossing has assisted with his ambulance bill.

Cancer Crossing helps those who 'fall between the cracks'.

Please support our cause so we can continue to assist cancer patients! We are receiving many requests.

Cheques may be mailed to Cancer Crossing Inc., 1-1660 Kenaston Blvd., PO Box 70029, Winnipeg, MB R3P 0X6 or you can contribute on our website at cancercrossing.com

Buying our book 'Cancer Crossing' at The Unexpected Gift, 564 Osborne Street, Unit 2, in Winnipeg helps cancer patients too. You can also buy a book through us directly at info@cancercrossing.com

100% of your donation goes to cancer patients. We are all volunteers and all of our operating expenses are paid by Sponsors.

Thank you so much and please remember to let cancer patients know we are here to assist - they can message us through Facebook, e-mail us at info@cancercrossing.com or send a written request by mail.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS ELDERLY GENTLEMAN WHOSE ONLY METHOD OF TRANSPORT TO TREATMENT IS VIA HIS SISTER WHO RESIDES IN ANOTHER COMMUNITY

Cancer Crossing has assisted a gentleman from rural Manitoba who has renal cell carcinoma.

He has decreased mobility and is unable to access the volunteer driving program in his community because his mobility is too compromised for the program.  The Wheels of Hope Program has no available drivers in his area either.

His only income is CPP/OAS plus a federal supplement. He had a bit more money before but fell victim to an elderly financial scam.

His sister is able to assist him with transport to and from his medical and treatment appointments, but she does not live in his community so she must commute to attend to his travel needs.

Cancer Crossing has provided financial assistance to this gentleman and his sister for fuel, so that travel to his medical care can be achieved.

Cancer Crossing has assisted a lady in south west Manitoba with lung cancer. This is her second bout of cancer, the first being renal cell cancer in 2021.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS STAGE IV LUNG CANCER PATIENT WITH TRAVEL FROM THE NORTH FOR MEDICAL TESTING

Happy New Year everyone!  It's a New Year and one of our goals for 2023 is to post here once a week letting you know how we have helped a cancer patient who is struggling financially.  As we are a volunteer run organization, we just don't have the resources to do everything, so posts to this page have dwindled but 2023 is a new year and we are putting our intentions out to the universe that we will post weekly and hope the universe is behind us!

Cancer Crossing has assisted a woman from northern Manitoba with Stage IV lung cancer.  She had to travel to The Pas for testing but also has tests in Winnipeg.  She is on short term disability from a retail job and her husband has been off work for a long time due to back surgery and is just back starting to drive cab.  These trips are financial and emotional stressors and the couple could use a financial leg up.

Cancer Crossing has assisted this couple with the cost of travel to The Pas and Winnipeg for her medical tests.
