Cancer Crossing has assisted a Manitoba Interlake woman with Stage IV lung cancer.
She requires a trip to Winnipeg to meet with her Oncologist to review treatment options and will need to travel to Winnipeg for future appointments as well.
Her husband has health issues of his own and his care has exhausted a significant portion of their household income leaving very limited funds for rent and basic necessities.
She would like to sign up for a transportation service to access her appointments in Winnipeg but the fee of $200 is beyond her reach.
Cancer Crossing has made a contribution to this patients transportation service fee so that she can access her appointments in Winnipeg.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS RURAL MANITOBA LYMPHOMA PATIENT WITH TRAVEL COSTS TO WINNIPEG FOR STEM CELL TRANSPLANT PREP
Cancer Crossing has assisted a Manitoba Interlake gentleman with Lymphoma.
Unfortunately, this is a recurrent cancer and this time, a more aggressive form.
He is a self employed tradesperson and was able to return to work during maintenance treatment for his initial diagnosis, but did struggle for gainful employment.
He has done everything to help himself including attending his Oncologist appointments by tele-health and accessing chemotherapy in nearby Gimli, but he is now being prepped for a Stem Cell transplant in Winnipeg and the cost of travel is a stressor.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS MANITOBA PARKLAND LUNG CANCER PATIENT WITH TRAVEL COSTS FOR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS
Update - our Cancer Crossing website is still down! We are getting a new web host and as volunteers, it's taking us a bit longer to get it back up. It will be back soon!
Meanwhile, Cancer Crossing has assisted another cancer patient who has fallen between the cracks.
He is a gentleman from the Parkland region of Manitoba.
He was getting by financially, but then he required trips to Brandon for a biopsy, then follow up, and now surgery for a lung cancer.
The cost of these trips have moved him from 'getting by' financially, to now experiencing considerable financial hardship.
Cancer Crossing has made a contribution to this patients travelling costs to help alleviate some of the financial pressure he is experiencing - he has enough to be concerned about having had a cancer diagnosis, and now the anticipation of surgery.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS LUNG CANCER PATIENT WHILE HE IS IN CPP DISABILITY LIMBO
Hi everyone, FYI, our Cancer Crossing website is temporarily down. We are getting a new web host and as volunteers, it's taking us a bit longer to get it back up. It will be back soon!
Meanwhile, Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg gentleman with Stage IV lung cancer.
Unfortunately, his first biopsy did not yield enough tissue to make a final diagnostic determination. As a result, he was unable to qualify for CPP disability, as the disability forms require the physician to indicate the treatment plan. With no firm diagnosis, there cannot be a treatment plan. He had to wait a period of time for a second biopsy and in the interim, was given emergency treatment for pain relief.
He has now received a Stage IV diagnosis and treatment has begun.
He is not only stressed from being in limbo regarding a diagnosis, but he is financially stressed as he has gone from being the primary breadwinner, to sitting in the passenger seat while his spouse works and they have two young adult children still at home.
Cancer Crossing has made a contribution to this family hoping his CPP disability is approved soon.
