CANCER CROSSING PROVIDES FUNDS FOR PURCHASE OF OSTEMY SUPPORT BELT

Cancer Crossing has assisted a young man from Winnipeg with the purchase of an Ostemy Support Belt. He has Stage IV colorectal and liver cancer and has undergone chemo, radiation and surgery.

He was in the midst of finding his way in life and now this.  Furthermore, he has being paying out of pocket for pain medication and blood thinners and has spent $663.00 on such. His Pharmacare only covers drugs that 'directly treat the cancer'.

He is another example of someone who has fallen in the cracks in our system and thankfully Cancer Crossing is here to help.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS PATIENT WHO MUST TRAVEL THE TREATMENT ROAD AGAIN

Cancer Crossing has assisted a lady in south west Manitoba with lung cancer. This is her second bout of cancer, the first being renal cell cancer in 2021.

She must travel to Winnipeg for treatment. Due to winter roads and stamina and fatigue issues associated with her health condition, she does not feel she can travel every other day for treatment. She has booked a hotel in Winnipeg and the cost of travel and accommodation is a challenge for her budget. She lives alone and her income is comprised of basic pensions so Cancer Crossing has given her a leg up.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS PATIENT WITH GI RELATED CANCER AND HEAD AND NECK CANCER WITH TRAVEL COSTS

Cancer Crossing has assisted a gentleman from the Interlake region of Manitoba.  He has both GI related cancer and cancer to the head and neck.  He has had surgery and is staying with a friend in Winnipeg while he undergoes radiation treatment.

He lives alone, is unable to continue working so is on CPP-Disability but at the age of 62, is too young for OAS.  He falls just outside the criteria for Social Assistance but is still on a very limited budget.

Cancer Crossing has provided financial assistance so that he can continue to travel from the Interlake to Winnipeg for his medical appointments and to help with costs of travelling within Winnipeg to attend to his radiation treatment.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS STAGE IV LUNG CANCER PATIENT WITH TRAVEL FROM THE NORTH FOR MEDICAL TESTING

Happy New Year everyone!  It's a New Year and one of our goals for 2023 is to post here once a week letting you know how we have helped a cancer patient who is struggling financially.  As we are a volunteer run organization, we just don't have the resources to do everything, so posts to this page have dwindled but 2023 is a new year and we are putting our intentions out to the universe that we will post weekly and hope the universe is behind us!

Cancer Crossing has assisted a woman from northern Manitoba with Stage IV lung cancer.  She had to travel to The Pas for testing but also has tests in Winnipeg.  She is on short term disability from a retail job and her husband has been off work for a long time due to back surgery and is just back starting to drive cab.  These trips are financial and emotional stressors and the couple could use a financial leg up.

Cancer Crossing has assisted this couple with the cost of travel to The Pas and Winnipeg for her medical tests.
