CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS LYMPHOMA PATIENT DIAGNOSED WHILE ENDURING A PERSONAL FINANCIAL CRISIS

Cancer Crossing has assisted a gentleman with Lymphoma living in a rural community north west of Winnipeg.

He needs 4 weeks of radiation treatment in Winnipeg.  As it so happens, he was self-employed and undergoing a personal financial crisis at the time of his diagnosis.

He has been working with financial advisors and the suggestion has come up that he try and defer some of his debt payments so that he can afford to travel to Winnipeg for his radiation treatment.  There is no guarantee that any creditor will accept such an arrangement.

Cancer Crossing has made a contribution towards his travel costs to Winnipeg and back to his community, as he undergoes his radiation treatments.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS MULTIPLE MYELOMA PATIENT WITH PAIN MEDICATION

Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg woman with Multiple Myeloma.  She has co-morbidities which required her to stop working at which point she received her cancer diagnosis.

She is collecting CPP retirement but this is not a great amount and is having challenges accessing CPP disability.  Her spouse is collecting CPP, OAS and is eligible for GIS.  She is having difficulties accessing medication for her pain.  She is enrolled in Pharmacare but has not reached her deductible and has no private coverage.  The cost of medication is a financial burden so Cancer Crossing has made a contribution towards her medication costs as she works towards achieving her deductible.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS GLIOBLASTOMA PATIENT WITH TRAVEL AND MEDICATION COSTS

Cancer Crossing has assisted a rural Manitoba gentleman with Glioblastoma.

He has made numerous trips to Winnipeg for surgery, chemo and radiation and remains on chemo so the travel back and forth remains.

Accessing his medication, travel costs to Winnipeg and back and a recent ambulance bill are now a financial burden.

He is currently on CPP, is collecting OAS and GIS and his wife is receiving long term disability for her own health difficulties and spousal allowance but these supports are insufficient given the extra costs he has been incurring.

Cancer Crossing has made a contribution towards this patients medication and travel costs.
