CANCER CROSSING CONTINUES TO ASSIST CANCER PATIENTS DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS, ASSISTS BRAIN CANCER PATIENT WITH TRAVEL FOR RADIATION

Hello everyone -
We wanted to update you on what is happening with Cancer Crossing during these unprecedented and difficult times.

Cancer Crossing is continuing to accept requests for assistance and we are continuing to process them. The process is all done remotely so we can continue to help cancer patients who are struggling financially as a result of their cancer diagnosis and subsequent cancer related expenses that have shifted them from 'managing financially' to 'struggling' financially.
We continue to be a group of volunteers so you might notice we are operating a little slower right now. Everyone across the globe is trying to adjust daily to new circumstances and that of course, includes our group. We hope that you and yours are safe and virus free and continue to practice the recommendations as set forth by the medical professionals to keep us that way.

Cancer Crossing has assisted a northern Manitoba gentleman with brain cancer. He is unable to work, is single and has no children. He is living with his parents at this time.
He is able to access chemotherapy in his home community but will require radiation treatments in Winnipeg. He must somehow make his way to Winnipeg for radiation treatments and is struggling financially, wondering how he will be able to make this happen.
Cancer Crossing has provided him with some assistance towards his travel costs to Winnipeg.

Cancer Crossing helps those who 'fall between the cracks'.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS METASTATIC BLADDER CANCER PATIENT WITH TRAVEL COSTS FOR DIAGNOSTIC WORKUP

Cancer Crossing has assisted an Interlake gentleman with metastatic bladder cancer.  He is undergoing further staging prior to starting treatment.
He and his wife have a limited fixed income including retirement pension and one on disability.  They have endured significant financial hardship with travel expenses which have accumulated during his diagnostic workup.
The volunteer driving program is not available in his community so he has relocated himself to Winnipeg for improved access to care. This has increased his costs as now he has a Winnipeg accommodation expense.
Cancer Crossing has made a contribution to this patients travel expenses which accumulated during his diagnostic workup.
