CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS WITH FUEL COSTS FOR RURAL CANCER PATIENT TO DRIVE TO WINNIPEG AS THE VOLUNTEER DRIVING PROGRAM HAS NO VOLUNTEER

Cancer Crossing has assisted a 75 year old gentleman from Manitoba's Interlake Region.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and will require 30 radiation treatments in Winnipeg.  The volunteer driving program is unavailable as the program is without a volunteer in his area.

He has opted to travel to Winnipeg and back for each treatment which will involve considerable fuel expense - yet this option is much cheaper than staying in Winnipeg for the period.  In addition, he takes comfort in his home and would prefer to return home after each treatment.

He and his wife are both on pension and therefore have a limited fixed income.

Cancer Crossing has assisted this gentleman with fuel for his many trips to Winnipeg for care.

Cancer Crossing helps those who 'fall between the cracks'.
