CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS RURAL MANITOBA CANCER PATIENT WITH MEDICAL ACCOMMODATION

Cancer Crossing has assisted a western Manitoba woman with endometrial cancer. She is single and all her family is out of the province.
She needed to travel to Brandon for radiation, and was able to secure accommodation in Brandon in housing available for cancer patients who have had to travel from outside the area for treatment.
She had been working prior to her treatment but is now on long term disability.  Unfortunately, expenses outweigh income at this time and she has an outstanding bill for her accommodation.  She was able to access a support fund for this outstanding bill but it only paid a portion and she still has an amount outstanding.  She has no private insurance that covers medical accommodation so is stuck.
Cancer Crossing has been able to make a contribution towards her outstanding accommodation bill.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS EWING'S SARCOMA PATIENT WITH HYDRO BILL

Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg woman who has Metastatic Ewing's Sarcoma.
Her and her family have taken great care to do everything they can to help themselves during very difficult times.
She has gotten herself on CPP Disability, her husband's compassionate care leave has been used up so he started the Family Caregiver Benefits program.
They applied for Rent Assist and the application got bogged down in 'red tape'.
Despite receiving as much assistance as they can find, this does not replace their family income at the level it was at before, and they are falling behind with the bills, most notably the Hydro bill.  In order to keep the symptoms of treatment in check, she finds she needs to diligently control the temperature in the home and unfortunately the cost is creeping up.
Cancer Crossing is pleased that we are here so that we can assist this patient and her family with their Hydro bill.

FOLLOW UP POST! BROOKE PALSSON CONCERT BENEFITING CANCER CROSSING! (IT WAS WONDERFUL!)

Follow up post!
Saturday, December 30th was a dark, and bitter cold evening but inside Winnipeg's Park Theatre, Brooke Palsson put on a concert to benefit Cancer Crossing that no one will forget.
A woman in her 20's commented: 'Best fundraising event in 3-4 years! The music was great, the people warm and receptive to the message'.
Both Brooke and her father Dan (Dan is in the plaid shirt) spoke with elegance and passion about Cancer Crossing, specifically about how we help cancer patients who are struggling financially, people who have 'fallen in the cracks' of the system.
To see a daughter and father so united was inspiring to see.
A couple who came out to support the effort commented: 'Even though it was something like -40 or -44C with the wind-chill and we had never heard of Brooke Palsson or Keith Macpherson, we headed out to the concert. First time we had been to the Park Theatre and really enjoyed the venue. Keith was great and we enjoyed his performance and energy. Brooke was awesome, we actually sat with one of her cousins and had a lot of fun. Brooke has an amazing voice!!! Looking forward to getting her new release when it comes out this year'.
Thank you Brooke from everyone at Cancer Crossing for thinking of us. 100% of your donation will go to support cancer patients who are struggling financially.
