Family of child with brain cancer asks for help

Cancer is a tough card to be dealt, and even more so when it happens to a child. Cancer Crossing was contacted in a request for financial assistance for the family of a child with a brain tumour. They live 4 hours away from treatment in Winnipeg. Their child has lost so much energy and can't even play outside due to drug interaction from sunshine. Imagine a child that can't go outside! The ongoing treatments, medication, trips, financial pressure due to need to take time from work are all adding up to stress for this family. Cancer Crossing was able to provide a financial gift to aid in travel expenses, helping to lessen some of the burden for this family. Please help us help Manitobans with cancer by donating at https://cancercrossing.com/

This is what one gentleman in western Manitoba is dealing with as he fights cancer of the ureter and kidney. His income is just high enough to make him ineligible for government aid, yet it is not enough to pay his expenses. He must drive to all his appointments and is in need of financial assistance to pay travel expenses. This is where Cancer Crossing has stepped in to give him a boost of support.  Who doesn't like to receive a thank you? We know that we at Cancer Crossing are gratified to hear when our help has made a difference in someone's life. You can help too by donating at http://www.cancercrossing.org/

Recently a man reached out to thank us for helping him at a very difficult time. Our financial gift helped him pay for gasoline so he could go to treatments. Many patients outside of Winnipeg have long travel distances to a health care centre that can provide what they need. We wish him all the best as he continues working his way back to health.

Elderly woman is assisted with the cost of gasoline

We received a request for assistance for a woman in her late 70s. She has B-cell lymphoma, is single and is living with family while she waits for housing. Her income consists of CPP, OAS and GIS. Her family helps by driving her to Neepawa and to Brandon for treatments and scans and she pays for gas. Due to her limited pension income and the cost of travel to numerous appointments she asked us for help. We were happy to provide some financial help. You can help Cancer Crossing to help your fellow Manitobans by donating at http://www.cancercrossing.org/

Western Manitoba woman receives assistance

Client #454 is a 70 year old woman from a small community west of Lake Manitoba. She has rectal cancer and is going to stay in Brandon for 5 weeks of radiation treatments. She and her husband are retired on modest pension incomes. There is very limited support for them in the community. The cost of a hotel is well outside of their means. Cancer Crossing is happy to have been able to give some support for their hotel cost. You can help us help cancer patients in Manitoba, go to http://www.cancercrossing.org/ to donate now.

Interlake woman receives financial assistance

We at Cancer Crossing are pleased to have been able to help a woman in her 70s from the Interlake area. She has breast cancer and also a lesion on her lung. Her husband is driving her to Winnipeg for radiation therapy, which is over 100 km each way. They rely on CPP and OAS as their income and the budget cannot stretch for these extra expenses. Her husband cannot pick up extra work as he is her caregiver. Her ability to walk long distances is compromised and life is difficult for them. Cancer Crossing has stepped up with some financial support so that the worry of extra costs is lifted from them. You can help cancer patients in Manitoba too, donate at http://www.cancercrossing.org/
