CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS WITH RAILING FOR STEPS OUTSIDE THE HOME OF A RENAL CANCER PATIENT

Cancer Crossing has assisted a Western Manitoba gentleman with metastatic renal cell cancer.
He is unable to work and his spouse is receiving EI compassionate care benefits.  He has applied to a financial assistance program but the application is experiencing hurdles.
Although they are struggling with regular expenses, they have managed to acquire some of the equipment to help him remain in the home.  For him to be able to remain at home is very important to them, but due to limited finances, they are unable to come up with all the funds required to add a railing for the outside steps of their house.
Cancer Crossing has assisted with the cost of exterior steps for their home to help keep this family together.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS WINNIPEG MATURE STUDENT WITH OVARIAN CANCER

Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg woman with ovarian cancer.
She immigrated to Canada from Europe.  She was a professional in Europe and was studying for certification here when she was diagnosed.  She was receiving financial help from back home but that has ended.  She will be applying for EIA as she has no other avenue of financial support.
Cancer Crossing has been able to offer a bit of help with her general living expenses as she cannot look for a job right now due to the side effects of chemo.  She is hoping EIA will come through for her.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS WITH NUTRITION AND FUEL FOR PATIENT TO GO BE WITH HER MOM

Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg woman with complex cervical cancer which has involved various treatments.
Her only source of income is CPP disability. She rents a residence with a family member, is not married and has no children. Her income from CPP disability is insufficient to keep her properly nourished and she is wanting to add extra protein to her diet. She will be going to stay with her mother in a rural community to recover, but the cost of fuel is prohibitive, as is the extra protein she would like to add to her diet.
Cancer Crossing has assisted this patient with expenses related to improved nutrition and fuel to go be with her mum.

CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS RURAL MANITOBA CANCER PATIENT WITH MEDICAL ACCOMMODATION

Cancer Crossing has assisted a western Manitoba woman with endometrial cancer. She is single and all her family is out of the province.
She needed to travel to Brandon for radiation, and was able to secure accommodation in Brandon in housing available for cancer patients who have had to travel from outside the area for treatment.
She had been working prior to her treatment but is now on long term disability.  Unfortunately, expenses outweigh income at this time and she has an outstanding bill for her accommodation.  She was able to access a support fund for this outstanding bill but it only paid a portion and she still has an amount outstanding.  She has no private insurance that covers medical accommodation so is stuck.
Cancer Crossing has been able to make a contribution towards her outstanding accommodation bill.
