CANCER CROSSING PROVIDES 'FLEXIBLE FUNDING' FOR FAMILY OF YOUNG WOMAN WITH ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA

Cancer Crossing has assisted a southwest Manitoba family whose young adult daughter has acute myeloid leukemia.
Her mother has been using her sick time from work to be in Winnipeg with her daughter, while her daughter has a stem cell transplant - which means a month long stay in the city.  This extended period from work and the expense of staying in Winnipeg is causing the family financial distress.
Post discharge, she would like to obtain a scooter for her daughter so that she can begin to get outside while being independently mobile.  Cancer Crossing has made a contribution towards the cost of the scooter.   If her daughter feels she can do without a scooter, the financial assistance will go towards the cost incurred to stay in Winnipeg for the month.
Cancer Crossing is pleased to be able to be a 'flexible funder'.  We understand circumstances can change quickly and we are not going to take our funding away should the daughter not require a scooter.  We are happy to have the contribution remain with the family and in this particular case, be used for travel expenses.

Cancer Crossing helps those who 'fall between the cracks'.
