CANCER CROSSING ASSISTS LUNG CANCER PATIENT WHILE HE IS IN CPP DISABILITY LIMBO

Hi everyone, FYI, our Cancer Crossing website is temporarily down. We are getting a new web host and as volunteers, it's taking us a bit longer to get it back up. It will be back soon!

Meanwhile, Cancer Crossing has assisted a Winnipeg gentleman with Stage IV lung cancer.

Unfortunately, his first biopsy did not yield enough tissue to make a final diagnostic determination. As a result, he was unable to qualify for CPP disability, as the disability forms require the physician to indicate the treatment plan. With no firm diagnosis, there cannot be a treatment plan. He had to wait a period of time for a second biopsy and in the interim, was given emergency treatment for pain relief.
He has now received a Stage IV diagnosis and treatment has begun.

He is not only stressed from being in limbo regarding a diagnosis, but he is financially stressed as he has gone from being the primary breadwinner, to sitting in the passenger seat while his spouse works and they have two young adult children still at home.

Cancer Crossing has made a contribution to this family hoping his CPP disability is approved soon.

Cancer Crossing helps those who 'fall between the cracks'.
