Imagine being a hard working person for your whole life. Then you get leukemia and colon cancer at the same time. You can't work anymore, you have a mortgage to pay, utility bills that you can't pay, your spouse is disabled and can't work and you don't know what you are going to do to get by. That's the situation a gentleman in eastern Manitoba found himself in. He had applied for mortgage insurance to take over and for CPP disability which were taking months to be approved. They found themselves going to the food bank as money was so tight.
